Abstract

This research investigates the challenges and potential of varying levels of rooftop solar (RTPV) penetration in distribution networks. This study analyzing voltage profiles and power losses under 30% of RTPV penetration scenarios is applied to determines the best locations for ESS placement to balance solar generation, smooth power fluctuations, and improve network performance. The best ESS locations are at buses 5, 24, and 12. The integration of the ESS significantly improved network performance, increasing the minimum voltage from 0.9805 p.u to 0.9821 p.u and reducing total active power loss from 9.2909 kW to 8.6182 kW. These findings demonstrate that optimal ESS placement is essential for balancing solar generation, smoothing power fluctuations, and enhancing overall system efficiency in RTPV-integrated distribution networks. © 2025 IEEE.
