Purpose – This study aims to develop and validate a student entrepreneurial resilience model, positioning five psychological factors as mediators and entrepreneurial culture as a moderator. The model is underpinned by an integrative framework combining social cognitive theory, entrepreneurial cultural logic and Southern theory, within the context of Indonesian higher education. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was used. Data were collected from 180 student entrepreneurs across 50 selected Indonesian universities. Mediation and moderation analyses were performed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (WarpPLS version 8). Findings – Entrepreneurship education significantly influences students’ entrepreneurial resilience, both directly and indirectly, through the mediation of five core psychological factors. Furthermore, entrepreneurial culture amplifies the relationship between psychological capital and resilience. Practical implications – Policymakers in higher education institutions must design curricula that enhance psychological dimensions and sensitivity to the local cultural context, while simultaneously fostering an entrepreneurial learning ecosystem that is adaptive, participatory and grounded in community values. Originality/value – This study proposes an integrative model grounded in psychological and cultural approaches that remain underexplored in mainstream literature. By using a decolonial framework and adopting a Global South perspective, it broadens the theoretical landscape of entrepreneurship research and contests the epistemic hegemony of Global North models. © 2025 Emerald Publishing Limited
