Parliamentary Select Committees (PSC s) are vital as an effective mechanism to exercise checks and balances on the executive. Nevertheless, the system in the Malaysian Parliament during 2018-2021 is arguably inadequate to scrutinize the executive. The article argues that there is a lack of recognition of the role that psc can play in the legislative business. After the 14th General Election (2018), there has been a compelling move to rejuvenate and strengthen the psc in the Malaysian Parliament. Despite the Malaysian Parliament being established over six decades ago, psc implementation in Malaysia still needs further improvements.
