Abstract

Mathematical connection ability can encourage students to understand the relationships between concepts and understand the application of mathematical concepts. However, past studies reported that MCA among students was still low. In addition, the learning resources were still limited to BSE books from the government and material summaries from the teacher. These learning resources are still needed to improve students' mathematical connection ability. Besides that, learning activities were carried out by explaining the material and doing exercises in the classroom so that students could observe natural objects in their environment that relate to the subject matter. This research aims to analyze the improvement of students' mathematical connection ability in learning assisted by teaching materials based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with the CORE model and Outdoor Learning strategy. The research method was Experimental Research with one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was 8th-grade students of State Junior High Schools in Semarang Regency. The Right-Tailed Independent Sample T-Test analysis showed that the post-test score average is greater than the pretest score average. The analysis result of N-Gain was 0.517 means that there was an improvement in students' mathematical connection ability with moderate criteria in learning assisted by teaching materials based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with CORE model and Outdoor Learning strategy. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
