Use of Mangrove Rhizophora Mucronata as a Natural Dye in Exploration of Natural Dye Shibori

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the results of the motif clarity test, color sharpness test, color evenness test, and color absorption test of the natural dye mangrove Rhizophora mucronata on shibori. The method used in this research is experimental. There are 3 types of samples used, namely sample A (the Kumo shibori technique with a natural dye composition of 1 kg of mangrove mixed with 10 liters of water), sample B (the Kanoko shibori technique with a natural dye composition of 1 kg of mangrove mixed with 8 liters of water), and sample C (the Itajime shibori technique with a natural dye composition of 1 kg of mangrove mixed with 5 liters of water). The data analysis used is descriptive. The research results show that: 1). The results of the motif clarity test in sample A have the clearest motif clarity, namely 4.7; 2). The color sharpness test results for sample C have the sharpest motif sharpness, namely 4.7; 3). The color evenness test results for sample A have the most even color evenness, namely 4.55.; and 4). The color absorption test results for sample C had the best color absorption, namely 4.55. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
