Abstract

The development of metacognition evaluation tools is very important because it is expected to function to identify student problems or difficulties. By using the metacognition evaluation tool, the teacher can also plan follow-up actions in the form of solving efforts according to the problems or difficulties encountered. This research was focused on developing science student metacognition assessment tools based on diagnostic tests using Moodle. Moodle was chosen because it relates to educational trends in the 4.0 revolution era which involves a lot of technology integration. Development was carried out using the ADDIE model. The assessment tool was developed based on metacognition indicator. The topics of the science material used were heat transfer and the interaction of living things and their environment. The assessment tool was in the form of a reasoned multiple-choice test with a total of 60 questions. The validation results show that the metacognition evaluation tool obtains a valid category in terms of presentation, construction, quality, and use aspects. This research can be continued to the implementation stage to measure the metacognitive ability of prospective science teachers. © 2023 Author(s).
