Proving process traceability with gradeless analysis

Abstract

Most mathematics education students have faced difficulties in the proving process of mathematics. This is evident in the Real Analysis course. This is to analyze the initial ability of the proof process on real number material based on the process progress rubric category with Gradeless Analysis. The design and approach of this article are based on the results of qualitative descriptive research. The selected students for this study were asked for participating in the interview and becoming research subjects. Participants for the initial ability of the proving process in the initial, development, and the proress categories consisted of 2 students. The instruments used in data collection were several results of written exams conducted at the end of the lecture, which was contained in the Rubric of the student progress process and the interview results. The results of this study found that participants in the initial category were unable to carry out adequate proving, participants in the development category were unable to understand and they poorly use language and mathematical notation. Participants in the progress category understood the definition and were able to explain it informally, but they could not use the definition to write down the proof properly and correctly. © 2023 Author(s).
