Abstract

The learning process carried out by the teacher involves student activities during the learning process such as asking, answering, presenting, expressing opinions and others, so communication skills and self-confidence are needed. The indicators of self-confidence used in this study are believing in one's own abilities, acting independently in making decisions, having a positive self-concept, and having the courage to express opinions. In learning mathematics, students not only understand what they are learning, but also must be able to communicate what they understand. Mathematical communication skills have the meaning of a mathematical ability to convey ideas or ideas both in writing and orally. The purpose of this study was to see the improvement of students' self-confidence and students' mathematical communication skills through lesson study on the articulation model. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a sample of class VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Cirebon City, data collection is carried out during the learning process by observing students' self-confidence by using observation sheets, and testing students' mathematical communication skills, followed by activities reflection with the observers on the learning process that has been implemented. Data analysis was carried out by looking at the students' self-confidence in each meeting. The results obtained during the research were the average self-confidence of students during the learning process through lesson study using the articulation model from the first meeting to the third meeting increased and was classified as good category. There was an increase in the average value of mathematical communication skills of class VII students from 16.24 to 67.66 with an analysis of the N-Gain value of 0.61 with moderate criteria. © 2023 Author(s).
