Abstract

Chassis is the main component in the bus. In chassis, various types of failures occur due to static as well as dynamic loading conditions. In this study, the authors examined welded joints on chassis using static loading which were analyzed using the Finite Element method. The analysis is carried out to get stress and displacement by performing static loading which is distributed to each bracket on the chassis. During the welding process, different instabilities can occur and it can have a significant effect on the properties of the weld joint and the quality of the entire product. From the results of simulation, it can be seen the value and location of the maximum stress on the chassis neither in the overall part of chassis and in welded joint area. The magnitude of stresses in both areas are still below the yield strength of both materials, therefore the chassis and welded joint can be concluded in the safe condition. © 2023 Author(s).
