Chlorophyll is one of the organic pigments found in most green plants. The characteristic of chlorophyll pigments is able to show red emission under UV irradiation was known as fluorescence. Chlorophyll fluorescence has been used to monitoring the photosynthetic performance. This research aims to analyze the red shift of chlorophyll extract in young, adult, and old leaves. The chlorophyll contents were extracted by maceration methods for 24 hours. The spectrum of chlorophyll extract was analyze using UV-Vis and Photoluminescence (PL) instruments. Furthermore, the colors were produced under UV light were analyzed using chromaticity diagram. The analytical technique using chromaticity diagram provides a visual understanding of the colors properties and has high accuracy in color measurements. The absorption spectrum of chorophyll has two peaks around 450-480 nm and 645-670 nm, the second peak would probably qualify chlorophyll to be red absorptive. Both the absorbance and PL spectrum show the decrease of intensity of chlorophyll in old leaves. Adult leaves have the highest chlorophyll content than young and old leaves. The longterm exposure to sunlight could reduce chlorophyll contents in old leaves. In conclusion, leaves age had an affect to the intensity and color shift of fluorescence. © 2023 Author(s).
