Different catalyst preparation will affect the catalyst activity and selectivity. A comparison of NiMo/Al2O3 catalysts preparation methods by impregnation and coprecipitation have been studied in catalytic activity for hydrocracking of used cooking oil. One step and two step impregnation method were also studied to identify its effect on catalyst performance. The prepared catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Subsequently, hydrocracking reaction was conducted in a 100 mL batch reactor under hydrogen pressure at designated temperature. Catalyst prepared by one step impregnation showed the best activity for hydrocracking of used cooking oil to produce about 73% of hydrocarbon content in its liquid product. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
