This study aims to analyze the governance of personal data protection in the metaverse era. This research is a normative legal research using qualitative analysis methods. This research shows that personal data protection is urgent and the existence of a personal data protection law needs to be examined. Weak security and privacy systems that result in data leakage, unlimited social interactions through metaverse technology. The presence of a law on personal data protection is an answer to weak personal data protection. It requires the involvement of elements of the digital economy industry and the government in making implementing or technical regulatory policies, as well as applying data protection principles. © 2023, Diponegoro University.
