Abstract

Based on self-concept mathematics, the goal of this study was to describe students' mathematical creative thinking ability. This study was naturally qualitative, and therefore the data collection techniques were in the forms of data tests and interviews. The participants were prospective mathematics teachers in the Mathematics Education Department of Universitas Pekalongan. This research concludes that self-concept mathematics is directly proportional to creative thinking ability. Creative thinking ability starts from the emergence of preliminary ideas after understanding a problem. The emergent ideas determine the steps in solving the problem. Creative thinking ability needs some sensitivity to the problem encountered, the consideration of the given information, making some relations, the determination of the steps of the solution, and the application of imagination to raise different new ideas. © 2022 Author(s).
