Abstract

Improving the use of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics, has shown increasing potential for scalable data processing and exploration operations. These advancements enable the development of adaptive and flexible learning models that can quickly respond to evolving needs and changes. However, in practice, the higher education sector has yet to fully understand and utilize AI tools despite their numerous benefits in addressing various academic and non-academic challenges. This research aims to help address these challenges. The methodology employed involves identifying and analyzing various AI tools that can be utilized for higher education development. This was achieved through internet searches, exploring websites of AI tool providers, reviewing related literature published in the last five years, and observing the use of AI tools in several universities. The study identified 47 AI tools, which were compiled into a comprehensive table containing the tool names, access links, and brief descriptions. Additionally, to gain insights into the practical implementation of these tools, user experiences were summarized for each AI tool. The findings emphasize the critical role of AI in transforming higher education into a more advanced and higher-quality domain. AI promises to enhance learning outcomes, research skills, student experiences, administrative efficiency, and more. However, several issues remain, including concerns about data privacy, job displacement, ethics, and authentic learning challenges posed by AI integration. Addressing these issues requires the responsible, ethical, and fair use of AI in higher education, ensuring that the humanistic perspective and pedagogical values of the academic environment are preserved. © 2025 Author(s).
