Abstract

In the context of increasing globalization, the younger generation’s sense of national identity and patriotism is gradually declining, necessitating innovative approaches to reinforce national pride. This study aims to develop digital comics rooted in Indonesian cultural heritage as a medium to strengthen students’ love for the nation. Utilizing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model, the comics were created and tested on 82 elementary school students at Alam Nara Mulia Elementary School. Pre- and post-intervention data were collected through questionnaires, revealing a significant increase in students' average scores-from 57.31 to 78.19-indicating improved national sentiment (p = 0.000). Additionally, 99% of participants expressed positive responses toward the digital comic, agreeing or strongly agreeing with the statements provided. These findings demonstrate that culturally themed digital comics can serve as an effective digital-based educational tool to promote inclusive civic values and patriotism in younger learners, making them relevant in the era of digital learning and global cultural exposure. © 2026 Author(s)
