Abstract

The effect of Europium to the optical properties of the cullet glass Na2O-Eu2O3 has been studied. In the study, the cullet glass Na2O-Eu2O3 is fabricated using the melt quenching method. In the method, the powder of cullet, Na2O and Eu2O3 are mixed using specific composition then melted in temperature 1100 °C The molten material is poured into the mold which has a large capacity for heat transfer so that the glass is formed. The experiments have shown that the ideal composition of glass formation was 60% cullet and 40% Na2O. Five samples of Na2O-Eu2O3 cullet glass were prepared with Europium impurity variations. UV spectroscopy is used to evaluate the optical absorption properties of each sample. The optimum absorption spectrum is in the range of 200nm to 400nm. Luminescence tests were performed on the five samples. The effective luminosity range of the five samples is between 200nm and 500nm. © 2019 Author(s).
