Natural fiber composites, specifically those using rattan fibers as composite materials filler, have be proved as promising environmentally friendly alternatives in engineering applications. This study comprehensively investigates the significant improvement of natural fiber composites making them attractive alternatives in many industries, as eco-friendly, biodegradable, and renewable properties to their usage, as industrial waste and agricultural has been utilized such as rattan fiber, banana fiber, and cocoa shells supports sustainability, also providing economic and ecological benefits saving forests and being an alternative to timber logging. This study also shows the simpler extraction for rattan fiber in comparison with other natural fibers which makes unique in the composite materials manufacturing process, demonstrating a good mechanical and thermal properties, as well as proving environmental benefits like reducing carbon emissions makes it suitable for various applications and industries, nowadays it’s been used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, furniture, etc., due to its lightweight nature and high strength to weight ratio. Rattan fiber reinforced composites offer a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to other natural fiber materials, the versatility and environmental benefits of rattan fibers makes them a promising material for future innovation and sustainability. © 2025 Author(s)
